The first call is free — up to 45 minutes of scoping and preservation triage, with a written preservation instruction where one is needed. Rates in full at /rates.

Where a matter requires a licence or a certification, that condition is named in the engagement letter and either met or the matter is declined.

The enquiry form

The conflicts check cannot be run against an anonymous enquiry.
It decides who the client is and who owns the report. See /roles.
It decides who the first call should be with.
The first useful exchange is a call, not a thread.
To confirm the enquiry and send the engagement letter.
Keep case detail, custodian names and credentials out of every field above.
Limits
What sending it doesWhat this does not establish
Puts your name in front of a person; I read enquiries myself. A response time. There is none outside a signed standby agreement.
Starts the conflicts check, and a callback if it clears. That I am free to act.
Logs a preliminary approach, confidential either way. Privilege, an engagement, or a held date.

I will not

  1. Start work, hold a date or accept a file before the conflicts check clears and the engagement letter is signed. Money paid earlier is refunded in full.
  2. Sell or share anything you send, or tell anyone that you approached me.
  3. Take or pay a referral fee when I send you elsewhere.
  4. Put a chat widget or a live-availability indicator on this site.
  5. Promise you a finding, a recovered file, an unlocked handset, or that anything I produce will be admitted.
